McGeeney moved through safely to round two in a 3-1 victory over Telnekes where he looked nervy at times against the Dutchman but never looked like losing.
Telnekes’ highlight was definitely his 145 checkout to begin proceedings but he will now likely go and prepare for PDC Q-School after not causing the shock.
In the second match, Heydon saw off Widmayer in what was a stunning 3-2 comeback win for ‘The Undertaker’.
Widmayer claimed the first set after some good fortune with some missed doubles from Heydon.
It wasn’t as close in the second set with Widmayer romping one set away without reply.
Heydon started to claw it back though with his first set including a 116 checkout from the Undertaker.
He started the next set by breaking the throw to begin and he continued the comeback by clean sweeping the next set.
Heydon completed the win with another 3-0 legs win including a 12 darter as he moves through to face Richard Veenstra in the first round proper.
