Meet the World Cup of Darts 2019 teams: Germany, Gibraltar and Greece

The World Cup of Darts 2019 will take place from 6-9 June in Hamburg. Dartsnews introduces the competing nations ahead of the start of the event.

We are paying attention to Germany, Gibraltar and Greece in this article. The Germans and Gibraltar are competing in the World Cup of Darts for the ninth time, while Greece have entered the field for the fourth time.

Germany

Germany is one of the outsiders for the title at the World Cup of Darts. It is a country that has also performed very well in recent years. Since Max Hopp joined the team in 2015, Germany reached the quarter-finals in three out of four times.
England proved to be too strong for the German team in 2015, while the Netherlands beat Germany in 2017 and 2018 in the quarter-finals. Martin Schindler was also present during the past two editions, with whom Hopp is once again forming a team.

Gibraltar

Gibraltar is one of the small participating countries at the World Cup of Darts. Yet Gibraltar is already taking part in this tournament for the ninth time. Dyson Parody is a permanent team member in the Gibraltar team so far as "Dynamite" also appeared during the past eight editions. However this can not be classified as a great success as he only survived the first round in 2015.
This year Parody gets a new teammate. Antony Lopez managed to secure his place in the Gibraltar team. 'Hot Fuzz' makes his debut on a televised event, although he qualified five times on the spin for the Gibraltar Darts Trophy, one of the European Tour events on the PDC circuit.

Greece

John Michael and Veniamin Symeonidis defend the Greek honor at the World Cup of Darts for the second consecutive year. Michael also did this in 2016 and 2017.
Michael made it to the second round in 2017 with former teammate Ioannis Selachoglou. This is still the best result of Greece in this tournament. Symeonidis joined the team last year, but is still looking for his first win as Greece lost 5-1 to Finland in the first round of last year's edition.
