Mervyn King strengthens World Matchplay qualification hopes after good run at Players Championship 6

Mervyn King burst back into form at the weekend. 'The King' reached the semi-final on Sunday at Players Championship 6 after recently also reaching the last 16 of the UK Open defeating Raymond van Barneveld on the way.

He is now in one of the spots to qualify for the World Matchplay replacing Jamie Lewis, the recent World Championship semi-finalist in the top 32.
Just behind King include recent ProTour winner Krzysztof Ratajski, recent finalists Jeffrey de Zwaan and Chris Dobey but this past weekend has strengthened the Bradwell native's chances of making the event at the Winter Gardens.
Some of the big names currently not in the qualification spots include Benito van de Pas, Robert Thornton, Justin Pipe and Cristo Reyes showing the downturn in form of those players over the past twelve months.
There are still 10 Players Championships and 9 Euro Tour events before the cut off meaning that players just below 'The King' could still jump above him and make Blackpool.
