'Hopefully I can play like that for the rest of the tournament' - Michael van Gerwen speaks after whitewash win over Wilson

Michael van Gerwen is through to Round 3 as expected, he smashed through James 'Lethal Biscuit' Wilson who despite playing well averaging in the 100's for most of the game could not live with Van Gerwen with the only chances the Huddersfield man got being on bull finishes or 1 shot at double and as a result Van Gerwen whitewashed him without the loss of a leg and he spoke afterwards about the win.
"I think I did everything right at the right moments, hitting 140 or a 180," said Van Gerwen. "It's all about not making mistakes and I've not been making them for some time now, hopefully I can play like that for the rest of the tournament."
"I'm going to have a happy Christmas now and prepare myself for the last 16 - I feel good."
He next plays Gerwyn Price who defeated Ian White to reach this stage and could be a threat to the World Number One if he's on his game like he has been so far this tournament.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
