Netherlands through to Quarter-Finals of World Cup of Darts with double whitewash over South Africa

Netherlands were imperious and sent a message out to the rest of the field by coming through with double whitewash victories for Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld. They will face Germany tomorrow in what could be a brilliant Quarter-Final at the World Cup of Darts.
'Mighty Mike' was first up against Liam O'Brien who looked impressive in parts yesterday in their first round victory. Van Gerwen steamrollered him though winning 4-0 with the South African getting minimum darts at the double.
This gave Devon Petersen an uphill battle to stay in the World Cup of Darts against Raymond van Barneveld. It was a battle too much with Barney coming through with a whitewash himself.

If it is going to be done to English players, then we are more than entitled to dish the same back when players face off in England. - I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
