Canadian ace Murschell sent world number two Peter Wright crashing out with a 6-5 victory. He meets European Q-School graduate Mario Robbe in the last 64. Antonio Alcinas put in a fine performance to send Premier League frontrunner Michael Smith packing, winning 6-3. Raymond van Barneveld departed as well, as Jan Dekker struck double four to secure a 6-5 win. Dekker was unusually lax on his doubles, and missed a clutch of match darts before finally finishing Barney off. A fourth Premier League participant, Gerwyn Price, also fell at the first hurdle. Dimitri van den Bergh punished some poor finishing from the Iceman to prevail 6-2.
However, there was no stopping Michael van Gerwen, who crushed Steve Lennon 6-1. Daryl Gurney also went through, but needed all 11 legs to see off Alan Tabern. Bradley Brooks continued his fine start to life on the Pro Tour; the 17-year-old saw off Dave Chisnall. Mark Webster's atrocious form continued with a 6-4 loss at the hands of Nathan Aspinall. Across 64 matches, there was just one whitewash winner; the impressive Robert Owen thrashed Sven Groen.
