Players Championship 2, last 64: Keegan Brown sends Rob Cross home

Brown defeated world champion Rob Cross 6-5 to seal his place in the last 32. The world champion averaged 102.3 but Brown took out vital checkouts of 122 and 88 en route to victory. Dimitri van den Bergh beat Gerwyn Price in the last 128, but could only average 87 in a disappointing 6-4 reverse against compatriot Davy van Baelen. Kim Huybrechts added to the Belgian contingent in the next round by beating Terry Temple 6-5.
A spirited display by Jamie Lewis was not enough to hold off Michael van Gerwen, who won 6-3. Gary Anderson also battled into the last 32, with Ross Smith the 6-2 loser. Peter Wright-slaying Dawson Murschell continued his run by beating Mario Robbe 6-5. The Canadian found the double 10 with the last dart left in hand, with Robbe waiting on tops to take the match. Murschell will meet Steve West, who beat Gabriel Clemens 6-2. Robert Thornton edged out Mickey Mansell 6-5, claiming the win with a fantastic 11-darter in the final leg. The Scot takes on Brown next. 17-year-old Jarred Cole rounded off an impressive 6-2 victory against Robert Marijanovic with a 100 checkout.
