Price was 9-5 behind and then went 13-10 behind and he came back both times mainly due to missed opportunities from The Wizard. This makes the loss even more hard to take for the Aussie.
Whitlock missed five match darts at the end and Price took advantage in this instance. The Welshman pinned double 12 to take the win in the leg-decider.
It was a dramatic affair with Price doing his usual celebrations which seemed to get under the skin of Whitlock. It worked though it seems with the Iceman booking a clash with Mensur Suljovic after the last leg shootout.
Saturday night will see the last two semi-finals confirmed with Jonny Clayton facing Michael van Gerwen and Michael Unterbuchner playing against Gary Anderson.
