Richard Veenstra crushed Geert de Vos 4-0 to move into the quarter-final of the BDO World Championship and maintain Dutch interest at the Lakeside.

With nine of his compatriots having fallen by the wayside already, Veenstra is the only Dutch competitor to have won multiple matches this year. He cruised past his Belgian opponent, who was well below par, to set up a quarter-final meeting with qualifier Michael Unterbuchner.
Sixth seed de Vos could only take three legs as Veenstra sealed a simple win. The checkout success rates were near-identical - Veenstra's 35 per cent narrowly better than de Vos' 33 per cent - but the scoring was worlds apart. The 11th seed raced into a 2-0 lead, as de Vos made an extremely sluggish start. The Belgian ace was left frustrated by a succession of opening darts that were dragged into the single one.
From nowhere, de Vos opened the third set with a superb 133 checkout. But the Flyer recovered to win the set and take the fourth to wrap things up quickly. An average of 90.85 and seven 180s provides an excellent marker ahead of the quarter-finals.
The next challenge for Veenstra comes in the form of Unterbuchner, who knocked him out of the Finder Darts Masters. After de Vos' exit, only three of the top ten seeds remain. One - Glen Durrant or Jim Williams - will definitely exit at the quarter-final stage.
