Smith after opening round win over White at The Masters: ‘It’s good to get the job done’

Michael Smith surged to an opening round win at The Masters on his return to the oche after a whirlwind month which saw him get married and reach a maiden World Championship Final.
Smith spoke after his 10-5 victory over White and said that it was good to get the job done; after not feeling too comfortable in parts. "It's good to get the job done and win," said Smith. "I didn't feel too comfortable in the first ten legs but after the second break I was more like myself. "We probably both felt like we could have been 8-2 up after ten legs, but I knew what I had to do at five-all and I got away from him, and luckily I got over the line." to check out the tournament centre for the Masters.

- Say what? It happens in other countries; Littler in January - this year (Holland), go and watch the evidence on YouTube. If it is going to be done to English players, then we are more than entitled to dish the same back when players face off in England. - I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
