Unterbuchner on shock win over Wade to reach Grand Slam Quarter-Finals: 'It's unbelievable'

Michael Unterbuchner is the sole BDO representative left in the Grand Slam of Darts and has now reached the Quarter-Finals in Wolverhampton.
He defeated James Wade last night in a shock 10-6 win; where the German dominated proceedings and 'T-Rex' described it as 'unbelievable'.
He also spoke of how he'd booked flights home for this morning (Friday) and that as a result he didn't think he'd beat 'The Machine'.
"It's unbelievable to beat James Wade; such a fantastic player on this amazing stage," said the former Lakeside semi-finalist.
"I booked my flights home for tomorrow morning because I didn't think I would win; but I don't mind staying longer, hopefully until Monday!"

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
