Raymond van Barneveld makes his PDC European Tour return in March as 'Barney' will compete in the European Darts Open in Hildesheim.

The 51-year-old from The Hague defeated Marko Kantele, Benito van de Pas and Tytus Kanik en route to qualification. Van Barneveld failed to seal a double qualification as he lost to Mario Robbe during the qualifier for the German Darts Championship.
Nonetheless, the Dutch darts pioneer assured himself of a return to the European Tour circuit. Van Barneveld made his last appearance there in April 2017, where he lost in the quarter-finals of the German Darts Masters. The five-time tried to qualify for two European Tour events last year, but lost twice during the qualifiers.
Van Barneveld has a good memory to the European Darts Open, as he won the inaugural edition in 2012. Compatriot Michael van Gerwen claimed the title last year after edging out Peter Wright 8-7.
