Van Barneveld makes U-turn and reverts decision to retire with immediate effect: 'He will play next Saturday'

Raymond van Barneveld continues his last season on the PDC Tour. His manager revealed 'Barney' reverted his decision to retire with immediate effect from the darts circuit.

The five-time world champion also regrets the statement he made after losing to Michael van Gerwen in the Premier League Darts in Rotterdam, manager Jaco van Bodegom told . ''Raymond is having a weekend off and on Tuesday morning we will sit together. I expect he will continue his career. He will play [Pro Tour] next Saturday'', Van Barneveld's agent said. ''I know him very well. He said before he was retiring immediately after suffering a heavy defeat, that happened again. Raymond made his statement in all his emotions. Straight after his defeat to Van Gerwen, the 51-year-old Dutchman was very clear about his future. ''I need to retire, this makes no sense. I don't care anymore. If you play like this in front of a beautiful crowd, why would you continue? I have to dig very deep to show my best game and then I show this? This is very heavy'', Van Barneveld told .
