Michael van Gerwen and Joe Cullen both cruised into the third round of the European Darts Open after booking convincing victories on Saturday evening.
Cullen saw off Vincent van der Voort with dropping only one leg. 'The Rockstar' produced a decent 97 average with a brilliant 67% on the doubles. He took out 87, 70 and 74 to move 5-0 up, before Van der Voort put a leg on the scoreboard. Cullen hit a superb 110 checkout in the seventh leg to seal the win.
Van Gerwen claimed a revenge victory against Mervyn King, as the Norfolk ace defeated the Dutchman earlier this month at the UK Open. 'Mighty Mike' won three legs on the spin, before King claimed a leg with a 121 checkout on the bullseye. A 14-dart leg gave Van Gerwen a 4-1 lead, before he claimed two more legs to book his place in the next round.
