Van Gerwen battles past Clayton to set-up semi-final clash with Anderson

Michael van Gerwen completed the line-up for the semi-finals at the Grand Slam of Darts. The 29-year-old Dutchman defeated Jonny Clayton 16-12 in the quarter-finals.

Clayton kept pace with Van Gerwen till 11-11, before Van Gerwen fired in back-to-back 11-dart legs. The world number one then extended his lead to 15-11.
Van Gerwen missed eight match-darts in the 27th leg to win the game and Clayton managed to win one more leg. The two-time world champion then claimed victory with a 66 checkout to defeat the Welshman.
