Van Gerwen breaks ProTour title record overtaking Taylor

He broke Phil Taylor’s ProTour title record, closing the gap further on the player regarded as the best ProTour player of all time. Taylor claimed 70 titles in these tournaments in his career; while Van Gerwen is now on 71. The interesting part is that he also did it in less finals with Taylor doing it in 87 and the Dutchman in 86.
Taylor's wins comprised of four European Tours, 45 Players Championships and 21 UK Open Qualifiers, while Van Gerwen has claimed 28 European Tour crowns, along with 27 Players Championships and 16 UK Open Qualifiers.
