Michael Van Gerwen is OUT of the Champions League after a match of epic proportions at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.
He was beaten 10-9 by the defending champion Phil Taylor to make sure that MVG's only win this weekend was against Adrian Lewis. Taylor only needed 8 legs no matter the result and he sealed it in style with a 102 average and a 107 checkout to grab that 8th leg.
For MVG he will have to regroup before next weeks' Euro Tour where he will want to win 3 out of 3 while with Phil he will be getting ready to try and retain his title in the Evening Session starting with Gary Anderson in the semi-finals.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
