Van Gerwen speaks after winning Double Dutch clash: 'I'm very confident and my form is good'

Michael van Gerwen smashed his way to another win last night defeating Raymond van Barneveld in a Double Dutch affair in Belfast. He went 2-1 down but went on to win 7-2 to cement his place at the top of the Premier League.
'Mighty Mike' averaged 104.5 with a high checkout of 132 with 70% on the doubles being the difference. Van Gerwen spoke afterwards admitting he is very confident and despite his scoring power not being there yet his form is good.
"My finishing was good and I didn't make a lot of mistakes, so I'm happy with this win," said Van Gerwen. "I like winning and I want to keep this going.
"I'm very confident and my form is good. My scoring power isn't there yet but I'm winning my games and all that matters is being top of the table and getting into the Play-Offs."

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025
