VIDEO: Throwback to Van Barneveld’s nine darter at World Matchplay vs Ovens

Raymond van Barneveld unlike Monday’s throwback John Part will be competing in the World Matchplay this year against Kyle Anderson in round 1; but in the past he has produced some moments of magic at the Winter Gardens.
This is including a nine darter which he hit eight years ago today (17th July 2010) at the World Matchplay. It was in round one and he was taking on Denis Ovens.
Barney was 8-1 up and seemingly coasting towards victory. He then made it an even more dominant effort by hitting the nine and went the conventional way in doing so to the rapture of the crowd and the commentators.

- I agree. With the number of tournaments these days?, Phil could probably earn £2 million a year if still playing. I can't believe Chisnall has earned over half a million for being so inept, he barely gets past the first round, stealing a living. That's outrageous.richieburnettrocks26-11-2024
- As prize money increases each year and there are now more tournaments then logically breaking the £2 million barrier is going to happen, only thing preventing it is the now deeper strength in depth of the darting field. If you took Taylor’s best two consecutive years and substituted the prize money from now onto the tournaments he won he would have passed the £2 million.Mysstree26-11-2024
