Wade sees off Van Barneveld in opening game 2019 Premier League

James Wade is the first winner in this year’s Premier League seeing off Raymond Van Barneveld 7-4.
‘The Machine’ averaged 99 and hit four 180’s en route to a win over the Dutch legend. Wade began the first match of the night by firing in two 180’s before claiming the leg with Barney missing early chances.
Missed doubles were a theme of the contest for Barney. This allowed the Aldershot ace to go two-one up with him missing two at double sixteen. Barney came back and smashed in a 104 checkout to make it two-all but was once again frustrated with Wade regaining the upper hand.
He gained the lead though going 4-3 up but from there he didn’t win another leg with Wade claiming the win. This was done with a brilliant 124 checkout on the bull to get his first Premier League points on the board.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
