Darren Webster and Ryan Meikle provided the match of the German Darts Grand Prix so far as Richard North, Nathan Aspinall and Ronny Huybrechts also triumphed.
The match between Webster and Meikle took a while to get going, but after Meikle had fired in an 11-darter to make it 4-2 to his advantage, 'The Demolition Man' finished off three consecutive legs in four visits each to lead 5-4. Meikle levelled with a strong finish of 70, but it proved irrelevant as Webster hit double five in the decider to reach round two with an average of 101.13.
Richard North continued his fine season as he held off Mick Todd 6-3. North, who is still in contention to qualify for the World Grand Prix, took three legs in a row to go from 2-2 to 5-2. 'The Mouth of the South' then finished it off on double sixteen after Todd had managed to pull a leg back.
Nathan Aspinall and Bernd Roith traded consecutive legs in the first seven legs of the match, with the former taking the first four and the latter grabbing the next three. From there, Aspinall took two more legs out of three to knock out the German in front of his home crowd.
Ronny Huybrechts made sure the first and last game of the session were won by Belgians, following up Tony Martinez' win at the start of the afternoon with a 6-3 victory over Zoran Lerchbacher. 'The Rebel' seemed in control throughout the entire match.
