The field for the World Series of Darts finals in Glasgow next month is close to completion. Michael van Gerwen is among the names in the lineup at the Braehead Arena with 'Mighty Mike' bidding to make it 3 years in a row that he has claimed the World Series ending trophy.
Bidding to stop him will include eight players from the World Series of Darts order of merit which are Scottish duo Gary Anderson and Peter Wright who will have the home support on their side. Raymond van Barneveld who has played every World Series event since it's inception, James Wade who will be bidding to return to form which he showed in events down under, Daryl Gurney, recent World Grand Prix winner, Kyle Anderson, the Auckland Darts Master and Gerwyn Price who benefits from Phil Taylor withdrawing from the event.
Also joining them are the four players not already qualified from the order of merit who are Adrian Lewis, Mensur Suljovic, Dave Chisnall and Jelle Klaasen with potential full time World Series spots up for grabs especially for Suljovic next year.
In terms of invites, Simon Whitlock, recent World Grand Prix finalist and Corey Cadby are two stand out names in a set of international invitations including also Michael Smith and Max Hopp with all four having made appearances on the World Series stage at some point this season.
Tonight there will be 8 players remaining who will grab spots from a qualifier in Barnsley with the amount going to the event being doubled from four last year and it starting a couple of days of Pro Tour action from the Barnsley Metrodome to conclude the floor season.
