GRANDPRIX FNL WHITLOCK2
Simon Whitlock continued the trend of the seeds continuing through to the Last 16, he defeated the reigning World Masters Champion Krzysztof Ratajski who's gamble of deciding against playing Lakeside appears not to have paid off as a result of this loss.
Michael van Gerwen wasn't on the end of a shock like he was in Dublin as he brushed aside Zoran Lerchbacher 6-3 despite a late fightback from 'The Hypercane'. The World Number One joins Peter Wright in the last 16 with both men vying for the number 1 spot in the European rankings.
Jan Dekker became the only un-seeded player in the evening session to knock out a seed in the form of Mervyn King. After whitewashing Christian Kist yesterday, King only took 1 leg off the man formally known as 'Mr Coat' with the Dutchman averaging 98.34 to get through to the last 16.
The cull of seeds continued with Andy Boulton knocking out new World Grand Prix champion Daryl Gurney in a brilliant performance for X-Factor to reach the last 16. A 103 average was good enough to record a 2nd career win against 'Superchin'.
Simon Whitlock (94.31) 6 (11) 4 (95.41) Krzysztof Ratajski
Michael Van Gerwen (91.47) 6 (11) 3 (85.33) Zoran Lerchbacher
Mervyn King (91.28) 1 (11) 6 (98.34) Jan Dekker
