Williams and Sherrock win BDO Belfry Open titles

The BDO Belfry Open is complete with Jim Williams and Fallon Sherrock winning the men's and women's titles respectively. Williams claimed the title with a victory over Mario Vandenbogaerde 3-0 in the final.

This meant that he claimed £1,800; which is £1,000 more than his opponent who wins £800 for reaching the end of the tournament. He did so by defeating Dave Parletti in the semi-finals 2-0.
Vandenbogaerde got through by defeating Derk Telnekes 2-1; who of course competed at Lakeside. Williams was the favourite to win the tournament being number 1 seed and the Welshman delivered.
The women's draw was a lot more hotly contested with Fallon defeating Aileen de Graaf in the final; with Sherrock number 4 seed and de Graaf number 2 seed in the competition. The likes of Corrine Hammond who was defeated by Sherrock were involved as were Trina Gulliver and Deta Hedman.
Winning the Belfry Open will serve as good practice for those who either reached the latter stages or in the case of Williams and Sherrock won it due to the World Trophy next week in Preston.
