James Wilson and Adrian Lewis are the last two players who have made it through to Round 2 at the World Grand Prix; with both players not having comfortable progressions through.

Wilson first of all had to come from a set down to see off last years finalist Simon Whitlock as ‘Lethal Biscuit’ continued his good run of form. Whitlock started out with a confident start securing the first set 3-1 with 60% on the doubles but back came the Huddersfield ace.
He had a brilliant response winning the second set 3-1 hitting a 180,171 and then a double 4 in the fourth leg. From there The Wizard couldn’t respond and Wilson claimed a brilliant win with six out of the last seven legs and 60% on the doubles going his way.
Lewis edged past Michael Smith in a classy encounter to end Round One with ‘Jackpot’ avoiding a sudden death deciding leg to see off ‘Bully Boy’. The first set went the way of the former 2x World Champion with him winning it 3-1 with a 94 average and 60% on his finishing.
In the second set, Smith restored parity at 1-1 but it still ended up with a deciding leg with the St Helens ace winning it 3-2 and in that set, he also went 7 darts into the nine dart leg.
Finally Lewis got over the line in the final set in an epic contest to end the first round at the City West with thirteen 180’s overall between the duo.
