The darts scene in Norway has undergone significant growth in recent years. This event offers a platform to showcase national talent on an international stage. That is a prestigious team event where nations compete for global dominance. In recent years, Norway has been an active participant, reflecting the growing respect for the sport. The 2025 edition is scheduled for June 12-15 in Frankfurt, Germany. The tournament will feature 40 nations competing for the prestigious title.

Norway has been a consistent participant, with the best performance reaching the Last 16 in 2016. In the 2024 edition, the Norwegian team, comprising Hakon Bjorge Helling and Cor Dekker, returned after an eight-year absence but faced a challenging draw against Hungary and Poland. The 2025 tournament offers Norway another opportunity to progress further on the international stage.

This tournament represents the highest level of competition and offers substantial exposure. Many experts describe it as the pinnacle of professional darts. It is held at Alexandra Palace in London on a yearly basis. The upcoming season is scheduled from December 15, 2024, to January 3, 2025.

It will feature 96 players, containing the top 32 players from the PDC Order of Merit. They receive automatic seeding into the second round and 64 qualifiers from various international circuits. The contest unfolds over seven rounds, with match formats intensifying as the action progresses.

Each set is played in a "best of five legs" format, adhering to the traditional 501 scoring system. Here, players aim to reach zero and finish on a double.

The defending champion, Luke Humphries, clinched his first world title in the previous edition by defeating Luke Littler with a 7–4 scoreline in the final. Humphries is set to commence his title defense on the opening night against the winner of the preliminary match between Thibault Tricole and Joe Comito. Other prominent contenders include Luke Little, Michael Smith, and Michael van Gerwen.

Norwegian players have been making strides on the international darts scene. Notably, Cor Dekker represented Norway at the 2016 World Cup of Darts and has competed in various PDC events. However, as of the latest information, no Norwegian players have qualified for the 2024/25 PDC World Darts Championship. Nevertheless, the growing infrastructure and interest in darts suggest that it's only a matter of time before they make a significant impact.

The event has significantly transformed under the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). It is set to return to the darts calendar in 2025, scheduled for January 30 to February 2 at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. It will feature the top 24 players from the PDC Order of Merit and eight qualifiers from preliminary rounds.

All matches will adopt a sets format, with each set played as best of three legs, honoring the event's traditional structure. This revival aims to blend the tournament's rich heritage with the corporation's modern competitive framework, offering a prestigious platform for players worldwide.

Darts transitioned from a casual pastime to a structured sport with the establishment of the Norwegian Darts Federation (NDF) in 1991. That created organized competitions and nationwide promotions. Norway made its international debut at the 1983 WDF World Cup, expanding its global presence.
