154-player field for 2021 UK Open confirmed

A field of 154 players will participate in the UK Open this weekend (March 5-7). The event will be played behind closed doors in Milton Keynes due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

As well as the 128 PDC Tour Card holders also some players from the Q-School, Challenge Tour and Development Tour rankings have received an invite to compete in the UK Open this year, as the Riley's amateur qualifiers were not held.

The participants enter the tournament from different stages. The various qualifiers and the players from the 97th to 128th place on the PDC Order of Merit must start from the first round. Among these players are Berry van Peer, Scott Mitchell, Danny Baggish, Jim Williams and Richie Burnett.

The second group of entrants consists of players from place 65 to 96 on the PDC Order of Merit. That means players like Jeff Smith, Scott Waites, Andy Hamilton, Lisa Ashton, Raymond van Barneveld and Keane Barry have a bye in the first round.

Players between the positions 33-64 starting from the third round, which includes Luke Humphries, Steve Beaton and Damon Heta. The top 32 on the PDC Order of Merit have a bye for the first three rounds, which means the likes of Gerwyn Price, Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright are starting their tournament in the fourth round.

The first three rounds will be played on Friday March 5, starting at 12:00 GMT. The fourth round is scheduled for Friday evening, followed by the fifth and sixth round on Saturday. The tournament continues with the quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon, while the semi-finals and final will be played on Sunday evening.

All rounds use an open draw, which means that players do not have a protected position in the draw. This means top players can meet each other early in the tournament.

The draw for the 2021 UK Open will be made on Monday evening. After withdrawals from Wesley Harms, Robert Marijanovic, Daniel Larsson, Michael Unterbuncher, Darren Penhall and Boris Kcrmar, six additional players will receive a bye in the first round.
