Two of them start proceedings in Michael Smith and Mervyn King. Smith took out Michael van Gerwen in a brilliant last leg decider win earlier today to make sure that the World Number One's wait for a first title of 2020 will go on at least one more week before the UK Open.
He has looked good all weekend and at this point has to be one of the favourites to claim what would be a first win in nearly 3 years on the European Tour. It is one as well that would help his ProTour ranking a great deal as well with 'Bully Boy' having to go to the qualifier last weekend to get into the second event.
King on the otherhand is another stalwart of the European Tour showing that with multiple Quarter-Final appearances last year and he took out a debutant in this weekend's tournament, Martijn Kleermaker who had an impressive run.
Then it is the turn of Peter Wright who's performance in the Premier League this past week aside has firmly established himself as living up to the billing of World Champion and he will hope to win his first European Tour title of the season to add to his Players Championship triumphs and The Masters.
He was safely through against another in-form player in Danny Noppert but he has an even tougher test in the next round against Krzysztof Ratajski.
A player who of course won his first European Tour title last year (ironically the last one of 2019) as well as a ranking title already this season and is someone who will always capitalise on mistakes so Wright will have to be at his top level to continue in Hasselt.
Speaking of in-form, it is then the turn of the story of the weekend, Dirk van Duijvenbode. 'The Titan' has always been known purely for his walk-on which thrills crowds all over Europe but he has let his darts do the talking this weekend.
A player on many radars this weekend due to his start to the year when he has already accrued half the money he did last year in only a few weeks, he has brought it to the stage.
His last win came against compatriot Jeffrey de Zwaan and despite some issues getting over the line against Ian White, the first time European Tour Quarter-Finalist has made a real mark this weekend.
So has his opponent though, Nathan Aspinall. A player like Van Duijvenbode who has played his best darts this season away from the stage, he has been up there this weekend but can the Dutchman claim yet another big win?
Then finally it is a match that could be the tie of the round between Gerwyn Price and Mensur Suljovic. Both averaged around the 103 mark in impressive displays with the former receiving further plaudits due to his whitewash aspect against Jamie Hughes. Two of the best on their day on the European Tour, like the first match this one could gleam a winner.
