“About 30 blocked so far” – Gerwyn Price forced to issue warning after escaped ferrets spark inevitable Jonny Clayton jokes

Gerwyn Price has appealed for help from fans after his pet ferrets escaped from their cage in Markham, only for the inevitable about countryman and fellow PDC star Jonny Clayton jokes to follow in the comments.

The former world champion posted the appeal on Facebook after the animals went missing in the South Wales village. With Price's long-time Welsh teammate Clayton carrying the nickname 'The Ferret', the 41-year-old clearly anticipated where the comments section was heading. “Anyone seen or found any little ferrets they got out of the cage in markham,” Price wrote.

He quickly followed that appeal with a warning of his own: “Any Sarky comments the block button.”

It did little to stop the jokes. Price later returned to the comments with another update: “About 30 blocked so far.”

Price and Clayton have shared plenty of big-stage moments for Wales, including World Cup of Darts victories in 2020 and 2023.

After the 2023 final, Price admitted Clayton had “carried me” during Wales' 10-2 victory over Scotland. Clayton responded: “I've heard enough about him carrying me, so it's payback time and lookout. I'm not going to let that one go, he's going to hear about that for the next year, week in, week out.”

They were back on opposite sides of the oche earlier this month in the New Zealand Darts Masters final. Clayton won 8-4 in Auckland, reversing the scoreline from the same final in 2022 when Price had taken the title.

After the victory, Clayton also joked about Price moving one place above him in the PDC Order of Merit, saying the 41-year-old should “respect his elders and give it back”.

The pair have now split their two New Zealand Darts Masters final meetings, both by an 8-4 scoreline.
