Two-time world champion Adrian Lewis has been absent from the tour for a while now. His return is heavily anticipated by many with 'Jackpot' offering his fans the odd hint or tease. However, his comeback is met by the 'daunting' prospect of getting used to life on the road and fast food.

He made the choice to step away from professional darts in 2023. His form had not been the same as of when he was in his pomp, and family remained the most prominent and important factor. His wife was diagnosed with an incurable kidney disease, while his son has autism and ADHD.
However, this time away from the tour has allowed Lewis to shed some weight. In a trend that many darters are going through, including the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price and Dave Chisnall among others, Lewis has lost three stone and enjoys a much healthier lifestyle to the one he used to adapt while competing.
While he would cherish a return to the big time, the thought of falling back into old habits is not a nice sign and puts him off from making that comeback.
“It would be another lifestyle change because you are on the road all the time, getting fast food, which I don’t think anybody really enjoys that much," he told Darts World.
“But it’s something you have got to do. It’s just that side of things, really, compared to now where I am eating healthy and have changed my life. It’s back to that way, really, which is a bit daunting."
The time spent away from home alters his mindset to not returning, but not to worry after the glittering career he endured at the top of darts. “My negative would be being away from home five days a week. Apart from that, everything else is a positive, so I can’t really dwell on that because I have had a good career so far and it can continue that way.”

Hinting at possible return to action

Lewis has played exhibition events, but the chance of earning his tour card came and went when he opted not to play in Q-School at the start of the year. He outlined his ambition to his possible return.
“I’ve never been motivated by the money. It would be to come back and win a third world title," he said. “If I won that, then I think I would retire and just say that is me done, one big one. If you are world champion in any sport, you have obviously had a good career just for winning one.
“I have won it twice. Do I think I have got another one? I do, yeah. If I didn’t think that, I wouldn’t entertain going back. If you don’t believe in yourself, then no one else is."

He would make his decision in November on whether he would be coming back, a long time to decide. “Short term goals, I don’t think I will make the Matchplay because I am already six months behind. I have already thought of that. There is a good chance I make the Worlds. There are the Grand Slam qualifiers, which I think I would have a good chance in qualifying for one of them. I reckon I would know by November time.”
