Nathan Aspinall and
Dirk van Duijvenbode coming into this weekend were two of the big names left in the field after the likes of Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith skipped the latest
Players Championship double header. But not anymore.
Both have since dropped out late on before play gets underway on Saturday afternoon. But not only have Aspinall who hasn't played many ProTours this season and Van Duijvenbode decided against it, but the same can be said for four more players.
Jim Williams who has come under some criticism for skipping tournaments amid potential qualification for major tournaments won't be involved. Neither will Lewy Williams, James Wilson or Nick Fullwell.
These late withdrawals though mean that top seed, Dave Chisnall has already received a bye through to the second round. While Jarred Cole, Vitezslav Sedlak, Arjan Konterman, Lukas Wenig and Martijn Dragt all come in to claim spots from the Challenge Tour.
