Aspinall dumps out Price in dramatic win to reach 2022 World Grand Prix Final

Nathan Aspinall will meet either Michael van Gerwen or Peter Wright in the final of the 2022 World Grand Prix after a dramatic win over Gerwyn Price.

Aspinall sealed it in a 4-2 win as he struggled to hold back the tears with all his recent injury issues now behind him as the resurgence of 'The Asp' continues with a major final spot in Leicester.

An 86 checkout saw Aspinall break to the delight of the crowd who were firmly on the back of Price. Aspinall missed a set dart and Price went 2-1 down but ‘The Asp’ hit a 113 checkout to seal the set.

Price hit back breaking on double four before holding with a 121 checkout on the bull. Aspinall hit an 80 checkout to go 2-1 down with a hold. A 180 and 57 checkout saw Price level up.

In the third set, Aspinall hit double 20 to break throw and followed it up with a double five. Price missed 160 but halved the deficit on double 10.

Price couldn’t get in and Aspinall hit a 180 followed by double 16 with a 2-1 sets lead. He handed the initiative back to Price back it shifted back to Aspinall after missed darts on double 12.

Price levelled up on double 10. Aspinall hit double eight to go 2-1 up. A 91 checkout saw Price send it to a decider, Price missed 89 and Aspinall sealed a 3-1 sets lead.

Price’s nightmare on the doubles continued and Aspinall broke with an 80 checkout. He missed darts at double six and Aspinall hit double 16. Price hit a 60 checkout to send it to a decider.

Aspinall hit 134 to leave 67 but missed a match dart and Price hit a 117 checkout to save the match. Aspinall took the opening leg with a hold on double 20.

Both hit back to back 160’s but Price hit a 107 checkout to hold before following it up with a 127 checkout on the bull to go one away from levelling it up in sets.

Price missed 111 for the set but returned only to miss three darts for the set and Aspinall hit a 69 checkout on double 20 to send it to a decider. Aspinall started with a 160 and double 16 to seal the win.
