Aspinall looks ahead ambitiously to the future: "I want to be the World Champion, I want to be the World Number One"

Nathan Aspinall has been superb so far in the Premier League Darts this year and caught up with Jamie Banks for a PDC feature at his local golf club, Reddish Vale.

A keen golfer, Aspinall and Banks went head to head on the golf course and he spoke about why he plays golf.

"I'm not too bad, I like to get out when I'm back from the darts. Just takes my mind off darts, come out a bit of exercise and fresh air," said Aspinall to the PDC.

World Matchplay

The World Matchplay is on the horizon and as a tournament Aspinall hasn't done well in previously, he is wanting to put it right this time around.

"It's a weird one because I do like the Matchplay. I'm just not very good at playing it. Obviously I played Winter Gardens once and with it being probably my local tournament, the reaction I got when I walked out two years ago against Merv (King) was a moment I'll never forget and I'm hoping I'll get past the first round for once."

Price as an example

He also discussed his darting rise and coming from Q-School to the top of the sport and uses Price as an example of what he can and wants to achieve.

"The thing I've learnt most from last year, I'm expected to go deep in every tournament I play in where as it was only two years ago, I was at Q-School. I'm getting confident every game I play and I'm looking forward to the rest of the year."

"I look at someone like him (Price) and think I can be Gezzy. I want to be the World Champion, I want to be the World Number One and if I keep putting the hours in, I don't see why not."
