Nathan Aspinall dumped out Gerwyn Price to reach the final of the
World Grand Prix in Leicester as his return from injury has been bookended with a superb run this week and he will now take on
Michael van Gerwen this evening.
"I still don't understand what has just happened. What an amazing feeling, what an amazing night. I felt like the first two sets in particular, I played really well. I tailed off a little bit but when I got to 3-1, I've never been that nervous in a game of darts but I composed myself at the end. Gezzy what a fantastic player, he's probably the best double 20 hitter in the world but for some reason, they just didn't go tonight.
"I kept my emotions in check tonight, I don't care about stats. Your goal is to go up there and do a job and win."
This after his injury woes with his wrist with the potential for 'The Asp' never to pick up a dart again no mind reach the final of a major.
"I wondered if I'd win games again, when I first started practicing again, you wouldn't believe how bad my throw was and the pain I was in. The tape during the World Championship was horrific, I've had to work hard to get back to this standard. I'm so proud of myself."
But after saying he wanted to play in Bahrain, there are other big goals on his mind going into the final after sealing his Grand Slam spot also.
"Nothing is set in stone but I'm probably the most open guy. I want to be in the Premier League, World Series. I want to travel the world, I want to be with the big boys. I want to be in everything next year. The calendar is ridiculous but I don't care, I live and breathe darts. I hope I can win tomorrow and be in everything. I love proving people wrong."
