Ballon d'Art trophy awarded for first time after World Darts Championships

Participants at the World Darts Championship can win another cup in addition to the Sid Waddell Trophy. In cooperation with tournament sponsor Paddy Power, the PDC has created a new prize; the Ballon d'Art.

The name of this cup is a nod to the Ballon d'Or, the prize given annually to the best football player in the world. So now darters have a chance to win a darts version of this cup, which is over a meter tall.

This Ballon d'Art trophy is awarded to the player who manages to throw the most 180 scores during the World Darts Championship. The person who receives this trophy has raised the most money for charity. In fact, Paddy Power is going to transfer a sum of 1,000 pounds for every 180 score thrown to Prostate Cancer UK.
