Canada, Spain & Switzerland claim opening round victories at World Cup in Frankfurt

In the opening round in Frankfurt, Canada, Spain & Switzerland are the first countries through with the World Cup going to script so far.

Canada started off proceedings with their new pair of John Part & Dawson Murschell. Part, a World Cup of Darts ever-present carried the team for the most part in a 5-1 victory in a safe progression against Italy.
Spain’s team of Toni Alcinas and Cristo Reyes were next through with a close win over the Russian pairing of Boris Koltsov & Aleksandr Oreshkin. It was 5-4 in the end with Alcinas hitting both a 141 and 136 checkout to then win the match.
Switzerland were then through with Alex Thelmann and Andy Bless defeating the history making pair of Momo Zhou and Xiaochen Zong. Zhou was the second woman to complete in the World Cup but the duo missed 21 darts at doubles which handed the Swiss side a 5-2 win.
