Chisnall continues Gilding's barren final run with first European Tour title in three years at Belgian Darts Open

Dave Chisnall has been superb during this year's European Tour and has got his reward for a night which has also seen a perfect leg with his third career European Tour title at the Belgian Darts Open defeating Andrew Gilding 8-6 in the final in Wieze.

It continues a barren run in finals for Gilding who has already lost to Danny Jansen and Danny Noppert in ProTour finals this season and reached two more back in 2014 also in a losing effort.

But for 'Chizzy', it adds to victories at the Danish Darts Open and German Darts Championship on the European Tour with his last coming in the former back in 2019 and it is his first title of 2022.

The first two legs of the final were shared at 2-1 but from there, Chisnall began to dominate with a 112 checkout to make it 2-2 before hitting the front with an 86 checkout to break at 3-2 up.

Missed darts allowed Chisnall to go two clear at 4-2 but again it went back and forth as Gilding this time pounced to go 5-4 down but again Chisnall went ahead including a 180, 171 and double one to go one away at 7-4.

With the finishing line in sight, Gilding started to clip the heels of Chisnall with a 136 checkout in particular putting him only a leg behind but that pressure didn't amount to a decider as Chisnall produced on double 19 after a superb scoring leg.
