Chris Dobey and Peter Wright have also qualified for the last eight of the Euro Tour tournament in Antwerp. After an exciting match, the former Masters champion prevailed 6-5 against Josh Rock.
Dobey started the match strong with a 180, but it was Rock who took the first leg via a 13-darter. 'Rocky' then kept his own leg with a 75 finish, after which Dobey secured his first leg with a 104 check-out.
In the fourth leg, Dobey was on 81 after nine arrows, but "Hollywood" missed the bullseye for the equalizer. Because Rock then missed two doubles, a 14-darter by Dobey equalized the match. Rock scored his eighth 180 in the fifth leg, but missed a chance to regain the lead. Dobey punished this miss with a 104 finish and took the lead for the first time.
The next three legs went with the darts, before Rock posted another break in the ninth with a 13-darter. 'Rocky' could not get out in five innings, however, after which Dobey forced a final leg with a 15-darter. Dobey then got to start the final leg, and pulled out the win via a 16-darter.
Peter Wright also secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Flanders Darts Trohy. Snakebite' started his match strongly against Stephen Bunting. A 144 finish, 14-darter and a 12-darter gave 'Snakebite' a 3-0 lead. In the end, the Scot won the match 6-5.
Also a win went 6-5 to Luke Woodhouse as he took down Gian van Veen who slumped after holding an early lead.
The Dutchman immediately took advantage in the first leg of a poor start by Woodhouse, who was not out in five innings. Van Veen broke him with a 124 finish and then took a 2-0 lead with an 18-darter. Woodhouse then missed five chances to keep his own leg, after which Van Veen took advantage again and made it 3-0.
'GVV Giant' then again held his own leg and made it 4-0 with a 14-darter. Woodhouse then battled back to 4-3 before missing four chances to make it 5-3. Woodhouse then threw out 60 to tie the score.
With a 95 finish in the ninth leg, the Englishman then took the lead for the first time in the match. Van Veen then signed via double 8 for the 5-5. In the last leg, Van Veen got a matchdart first, but from 85 the bullseye was missed. Woodhouse was waiting on 42 and with a 17-darter he took the win.
