Chris Dobey has reached the fourth round at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship. 'Hollywood' won 4-2 in sets over Josh Rock in the third round, marking his sixth appearance in the last 16 at Alexandra Palace in the last seven years.

Curiously, the first four sets were all won by the player who did not start it. In fact, the first set began with three breaks, two of which were in Rock's favour. After Dobey missed five chances to make it 2-2, the set went 3-1 to Rock.

Dobey immediately started the second set with a break via a 13-darter, but Rock provided the rebreak right away with a 41 finish. Dobey responded with an 11-darter to make it 2-1. A 64 finish then provided set win for "Hollywood. However, the Englishman then promptly surrendered his own leg and then saw Rock make it 2-0 in the third set with an 11-darter. Dobey closed to 1-2 with a 16-darter, before Rock managed to take the set via tops. With a 15-darter and an 11-darter, Dobey then made it 2-0 himself in Rock's set. The Northern Ireland darter missed six chances to make it 1-2 before Dobey took the set with a 19-darter to make it 2-2 at the interval.

Dobey then became the first player to hold his own set. He led 2-0, but Rock came back to 2-2 and even had a chance to take the set from 76. His set arrow on tops was missed, after which Dobey threw a 60 finish to secure the set.

With a 68 finish, Dobey then got right ahead by a break in the sixth set. The former Masters winner then came within one leg of victory by keeping his own leg with a 13-darter. Rock threw out 98 to stay in the match and halve the deficit in set six, but then Dobey still decided the game with a 96 finish.
