The evening session on the opening day of Grand Slam of Darts has begun with Jonny Clayton and Gabriel Clemens claiming opening victories.
Clayton off the back of his World Cup of Darts victory produced a 116 checkout in the deciding leg to edge past Ryan Joyce and continue his good form as of late.
While for Clemens, it was a bit more comprehensive with a 5-2 victory over in-form Joe Cullen who was off the back of winning the final Winter Series title. But the German Giant proved too strong for him after a good week in patches also.
He averaged 99.9 and hit two ton plus checkouts en route to victory. For Clayton, a tie with World Cup teammate Gerwyn Price could await while for Clemens, it could be Michael van Gerwen.
