Clayton ends Curse of the Green Jacket, regains Austrian Darts Open with first European Tour title in five years

Since winning the green jacket for the Austrian Darts Open in 2018, Jonny Clayton has failed to add to his title tally on the European Tour but that curse is now over ironically in the same tournament five years on.

Clayton saw off Josh Rock in the final in a superb display from 'The Ferret' who was irresistible at times with a 101 average, five 180's and 42.1% on the outer ring against the first time European Tour finalist who just couldn't find the break he needed.

Both hit 180's back-to-back but Rock hit the front with a 44 checkout. Clayton levelled up on double 12 and he pinned a 121 checkout as the finger point came out in breaking the throw for 2-1 and with a 12-dart 60 checkout, he broke again for 4-1.

He missed 101 for a 5-1 lead and Rock replied on double six for a break back at 4-2 and held for 4-3. He mis counted off 83 and Clayton hit double 16 to hold and make it 5-3.

Rock hit double 20 to make it 5-4 but still needed a break. Clayton kicked off 180, he missed 121 on the bull but returned for double two to make it 6-4.

Rock hit a 102 checkout using bull, double 16 to hold and make it 6-5. Rock couldn’t get a shot at 164 after Clayton missed darts for a 12-darter and he finally hit double eight to make it 7-5.

Rock made it 7-6 but needed a break. A 180 to leave double 13 for Clayton snatched a decider chance away from Rock as Clayton claimed the title.
