Clemens ready for clash with Van Gerwen: "I can beat any player in the world"

After edging through a tight contest with Gian van Veen, Gabriel Clemens will now face off against Michael van Gerwen in the second round of the Dutch Darts Championship, a challenge he is more than ready for.

"I think this it's normal for me, 6-5," Clemens said in a post-match interview with Darts Actueel. "I don't know why but today is a good day. I win and I'm very happy," continues the German Giant.

Often having the backing of a home, German crowd on the European Tour, Clemens was against a Dutchman in the Netherlands in round one and the same will be the case in round two. "It is a fair crowd, hopefully the same tomorrow," Clemens says. "But tomorrow against Michael it's a little bit different."

Michael van Gerwen has not been at his brilliant best in recent weeks so does Clemens sense an opportunity to cause an upset and send the former three-time world champion packing? "I can beat any player in the world when I play my A-game," answers a defiant Clemens.
