Gabriel Clemens shocked Nathan Aspinall in the first round at the World Grand Prix as now six of the eight seeded players are knocked out in Coventry.
The German beat Aspinall in two sets, as The Asp gave away a 2-0 lead in the second set. Clemens then took out 40 to book his place in the second round.
Simon Whitlock and Jeffrey de Zwaan both received a late call to play at the World Grand Prix after Adrian Lewis and Stephen Bunting had to withdraw after a positive Covid-19 test.
Both used this golden opportunity and reached the second round. Whitlock averaged over 101 to see off Chris Dobey 2-0 in sets. De Zwaan defeated Jamie Hughes after a set-decider to set-up a match with Clemens.
