Rob Cross came through with ease against Leonard Gates in a whitewash win which saw 'Voltage' towards his clinical best including a 101 average.
Cross spoke afterwards and admitted that he was happy with his performance. He added that he believes his brilliant finishing early on really took the game away from the debutant.
Finally he said that he was nervous beforehand but that he believes he will be better tonight when he takes on Nathan Aspinall in a repeat of their UK Open final.
"I'm happy with my performance," said Cross. "My finishing early on took the game away from him but he'll be better for that stage experience.
"I've had some time off recently so I wasn't sure how I was going to play and I was nervous today, but I'll be better on Friday."
