It's the day we have all been waiting for, the start of the
PDC World Darts Championship. One man who will be wanting to impress again this year is
Joe Cullen and this week he has been speaking to 'Online Darts' about the World Championship and his hopes to make a return to the Premier League.
'The Rockstar' say's he is ready for the World Championships and will be going into this full of confidence.
“This year
has been my most successful to date so there’s no reason I cant go there full
of confidence which I am. I am the last game on out of the whole lot which I
actually prefer, you don’t want to play early on in the tournament. But I am
looking forward to it.”
As confident as Cullen is it is still an uncertainty whether he is more excited for the World Championships or a little time off.
“It might
seem trivial but I’ve got a full week off which is rare. I have a full week off
right in between the worlds as well, this year has been so hectic I’m more
looking forward to the week off than the Worlds if I am honest.”
“Its
just been mega busy I’m not sure how these boys [Van Gerwen, Wright etc.] do it
year in year out. Hopefully I will find out but it’s been so constant and
hectic I think I’ve seen more of Jonny Clayton than I have my own wife. But I’d
have been the first to moan if I was sat at home so no complaints from me.”
But rest and World Championships isn't all the 33 year old is thinking about, the Premier League is only a few months away now and when asked if he felt he should be in the competition again this year this is what the finalist had to say.
“I think if
its picked right now I would be in, as we’ve seen you can have a late runner in
the Worlds. It would be interesting to see if they’ve done what they have the
last two years and left the masters spot open. So yes, if you asked me now I
think I would probably be in I don’t think there is anyone more deserving of
that than me.”
