Daryl Gurney says goodbye to well-known nickname “Superchin”: fans can choose the successor

Daryl Gurney is looking for a new nickname. The well-known moniker “Superchin”, which the Northern Irishman carried for years on tour, is being dropped. A TikTok campaign now invites dart fans to decide what Gurney should be called from here on.

“‘Superchin’ is getting scrapped,” runs the striking announcement in the video. It then makes clear that Gurney will indeed take a different nickname. “Daryl Gurney needs a new nickname… and we’re letting you decide.”
Fans will play a key role. They can leave their best suggestion under the video and, with their entry, also go into the draw for several prizes.
“Drop your best new nickname for Daryl below to take part,” reads the call to action.
Prizes for the best suggestions
The search for a successor to “Superchin” comes with a giveaway. In partnership with Mad House, a total of 22 prizes are up for grabs.
Prizes include a set of Daryl Gurney Superchin darts. There’s also a signed Superchin shirt from Gurney. In addition, there are ten two-hour Mad House darts sessions and ten Mad House dart cases to be won.

The campaign signals that one of the sport’s more familiar nicknames may disappear. Gurney has long been introduced as “Superchin”, but the hunt for a new handle is now open.
What replaces it remains unclear. That choice is being left to the creativity of dart fans.
The central question is simple: “What should Daryl Gurney be called from now on?”
