De Sousa was making his European Tour debut after impressing at times this season and he should some of that in his tie against Scott Taylor as he edged past the Bolton ace in a 6-3 win.
He averaged 100+ for the most part but messed about on finishing the game so went down to 98 in the end but it was enough to claim the victory. Along the way he hit three 180's to underline a good performance.
Joyce also played well landing two ton-plus checkouts on his way to a 6-2 win over Jose Justicia in a game where both players didn't average to their capabilities but it is the Newcastle thrower who moves through to face Daryl Gurney.
Finally Ratajski saw off Krzysztof Kciuk in a battle of the Krzysztof's on the European Tour stage as well as an all-Polish affair. It was 'The Polish Eagle' who dominated for the most part but couldn't finish the game off.
This allowed Kciuk back into proceedings but a good final leg from Ratajski including a 180 meant that he could finally claim the victory and meant it was too big of a mountain to climb for the former Lakeside participant.
