Double Dutch despair as Nilsson and Meikle go through in Wieze

Dennis Nilsson and Ryan Meikle have booked victories on Friday afternoon to move into the second round at the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze.

Nilsson claimed the win in the opening match of the European Tour event in Belgium. The Swede punished Kevin Doets in the third leg for missed doubles, before two another breaks followed en route to a 4-1 lead. Nilsson then won the match 6-2 and will meet Joe Cullen in the second round.

Van Veen came up just short against 26-year-old Ryan Meikle. The Englishman prevailed 6-4 against the Dutchman, who made his first breakthrough on the PDC circuit this year.
