Draw and schedule confirmed for 2022 Gibraltar Darts Trophy: Defending champion Price to face Brown or Suljovic as European Tour concludes

The draw and schedule for the final European Tour of the season in the form of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy has been confirmed with defending champion Gerwyn Price set to face Keegan Brown or Mensur Suljovic.
Fresh from winning his sixth World Grand Prix title, Michael van Gerwen will be involved against either Steve Beaton or one of six Host Nation Qualifiers with Krzysztof Kciuk and Karel Sedlacek being late withdrawals.
Stephen Bunting - Daryl Gurney, Martin Schindler - Vincent van der Voort, Rowby-John Rodriguez - Keane Barry and Josh Rock - Ryan Meikle are also among standout first round ties. Peter Wright and Luke Humphries are also among the main names involved.
Wright will face either Mario Vandenbogaerde or a Host Nation Qualifier, while Humphries could face Kenny Neyens in his opener starting tomorrow on the Rock.

- Tennis has a protected ranking system for injuries and Golf has a system that as a Major winner you get invited back of a number of years regardless of your ranking. Barry Hearn gave Stephen Hendry a wildcard for some tournaments though he still had to enter at the qualification stage. Doubt the PDC would give Burnett an exemption as he has never won a PDC Major, same would apply to Steve Beaton. It’s a slippery slope to abandoning a meritocratic system, if the PDC did do so they could then (for example) award a place to Fallon Sherrock even though she has yet to qualify at any level for a tour card.Mysstree06-01-2025

- The semi finals are so one sided nowadays. Bunting and Dobey had their final in the quarters and simply had no interest once they got behind and gave up., yet both will be whining for premier league places. Earning enough to keep the rankings is more important to most players.
