So far it has seen Michael van Gerwen pick up two titles and James Wade also another familiar face in the winners' circle. Ryan Joyce claimed his first ranking title in one of the stories of the week in the other title win.

Today is a big day when it comes to the World Matchplay with some big ties coming out of the first round which could further confirm the places early on.

One of them is Ricky Evans who will take on John Henderson. Evans is currently in the final ProTour spot with Ryan Searle needing at least a Last 16 today to stand a chance, he takes on John Henderson who is in 22nd but still has a slim chance albeit making the final.

But of course that will be over if he is defeated by 'Rapid' while for Luke Humphries who is down in 21st, £250 ahead similar is needed. He will take on Jamie Hughes - who has already confirmed his spot through the ProTour.

All eyes will be on Searle, Kim Huybrechts, Stephen Bunting, Steve West as well as Humphries and Henderson to see if they can push themselves into the reckoning.

For Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright though, they have already got through their first round. The top two seeds have won through as a result of Justin Pipe (injury) and Adrian Lewis (personal problems) withdrawing from today's final day.
